About Margaret

I am a graphic designer, illustrator, and artist. I love color and pattern and I'm inspired by folk art and the beauty of nature. On this website, you will see many of my favorite subjects—flowers, teacups, hearts, birds, flowers, dragons, tigers, leopards, blue people and pink houses. Lately I have also been painting suns and moons with faces. Some of my recent works include colorful paintings on layers of cardboard which invite the viewer into the artwork like little theaters of art.

When I was little, my parents read to me every night. As I listened to stories of travel and adventure, I would draw whatever came to mind. Today, I still love to listen to stories while I paint or draw at my desk. I also love combining art with travel. A recent trip to Morocco was the perfect combination of a beautiful exotic location and a painting workshop where I was able to create new artworks every day.

I live with my husband and two sons in Evanston, Illinois, just a few blocks from Lake Michigan. Recently, Evanston has started putting up tiny free art galleries, and I have been contributing from time to time.
